The Charles George VAMC research program is accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protections Programs (AAHRPP) for its Human Subjects Protection Program.  It was among the first research organizations in the nation to have its human research accredited.

Services Offered

Our current research studies enhance the medical center's ability to provide state-of-the-art medical techniques and treatments to veterans.  Through research, patients have access to improved care, treatments and cures.  Research provides access to cutting edge drugs, newest treatments, and treatments that are otherwise unavailable as well as introduce awareness of cutting edge technology available for patient care.  Involvement in research provides investigators and caregivers with the ability to contribute to the store of medical knowledge and opportunity to determine if the current treatment options or treatment guidelines are providing the best care we can give.

With more than 20 Investigators and Research Coordinators, the research program has more than 25 active research projects are currently being conducted at VAMC Asheville in areas such as —
