Covid-19 Vaccine coming to Western North Carolina
December 17, 2020
The Charles George VA Medical Center (part of the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System) has plans to roll out vaccine administration to front-line VA health care workers and Veterans residing in the CGVAMC community living center once the vaccine arrives. Health care workers will be among the first because they are at high risk for contracting and spreading COVID-19 to other staff members and patients.Their health is critical to ensuring the continued care of Veterans. As vaccine supplies increase, additional Veterans will receive vaccinations based on factors such as age, existing health problems and other considerations which increase the risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19.
VA anticipates a limited vaccine supply immediately after FDA’s approval, but expects more supplies to be available in short order.
Only individuals enrolled in health care at the facility will be eligible for the vaccine.
There is no pre-registration for Veterans, and no need to call clinics to be put on a list. As we learn more information, it will be communicated to Veterans.
