CHARLES GEORGE VA MEDICAL CENTER, Asheville, N.C. - Department of Veterans Affairs Officials cut the ribbon on a new Compensation and Pension (C & P) Examination Clinic Jan. 25, 2011 inside the Charles George VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville.
The Director of the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network, Daniel F. Hoffmann, his deputy, Mr. Augustin Davila, and Dr. Mark Shelhorse, the Chief Medical Officer for Veterans Integrated Service Network 6, joined Charles George VA Medical Center Director Cynthia Breyfogle in dedicating the clinic.
A C & P Clinic is one of the first stops that all Veterans applying for a pension, or compensation, for a service connected injury must make.  Trained medical teams examine the Veterans and that examination will help determine the extent of the medical compensation and pension that they are entitled to.  The new facility is just one part of the Department of Veterans Affairs ongoing efforts to reduce the backlog of Veterans waiting for their C & P exams.
